Sorry to have left you hanging the last week. I fully intended to update you all on my Ikea expedition and give you my review of The Avengeners movie, and then I got home and collapsed, literally :-(
Let's start with The Anvengers. It was mostly all I expected it to be, action packed, funny (Iron Man) and victorious. What I wasn't expecting was a weak script. Oh my goodness, that needed some work! Iron Man and the Hulk totally carried the movie. I'd give it 3.5 stars. Don't kill me, I just need a little more than 'action packed' in a movie. A little more.
And now... Ikea! It was everything I expected and more :-) Seriously. I took my trusty shopping partner, my Mother, with me. We got up early, took my list, rented a car, had breakfast at Ikea-- they've got a mean cinnamon roll (yes, I got some junk food too)-- and dived into bliss.

My feet were sore by the time we were through, and I still had do a Target and Home Depot run... but I had fun, and got some exercise in (yes, this counts!)
Word to the wise make a list of what you need, even take the Ikea catalog with you. Ikea can be a bit overwhelming, and you start seeing things you had no intention of buying, but suddenly can't live without (speaking from experience). I indulged just a bit, as I haven't been in over 3 years. Bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and office organizers all made their way into my trunk. Whew! I promised myself I won't be back anytime soon. Except to return the extra bookshelves that won't fit my bookcase :-(
I'll show you some of the stuff I bought over coming weeks.
In other news, my bedroom walls will finally be done this week! I can hardly wait. My contractor promised to do it this week. I won't be able to sleep in there for at least a couple days, but I figure it's worth it. Definitely!
| Look how far we've come! Just the walls left :-) |
I know I haven't updated you all on the accessories I've purchased, but they literally trickled in, so I figured you can view them in my big reveal, which hopefully will be next week :-) I'm so cheesing right now.
I titled this post Ode to Joy, but none of this really compares to the joy we experience when we rest in Jesus. All of our possessions will fade away, rot, and what will we be left with? Consider what Ecclesiates 2:10 -11 says (Solomon, the wise man speaking):
I know this all sounds depressing, considering that the topic is 'joy'; what I'm really saying is, true joy is found only in Christ. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things (joy, peace, your needs) shall be added unto you (Matt 6:33).10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
'Til next time,
Happy designing!
Kyla
